We invite you to join us on our walking days. Our walks are tailored to suit the needs of the group with a choice of many day or half day walks, all are moderate to easy levels (maximum day walks of around 8 miles)

We like to have the time to enjoy the scenery and wild life, and feel at peace. La Creuse, at first sight gives the impression of a rolling countryside, in fact it is a high plateau crisscrossed with gorges and lakes, making for some fascinating walks.

France is very proud of its walking systems and all walks are well marked. The local trails that we use offer varying interests, from wild fauna and flora, to ancient legends. The following are some examples of our walks.

    Forest walk in central France

Round and about: a local walk from the house to a beautiful fishing lake and nature reserve near the small village of Lussat. This lake is well known to bird watchers and has two amazing hideouts. Cranes and heron abound. Lussat Lake - local nature reserve. Giant legends: a trip to some outstanding granite outcrops high above Boussac. Legend tells that these huge rocks, smoothed by eons of time, were once a race of giants punished for destroying all the trees. Rocks at jaumatres

Arsenic and old gold: a trip that passes France's second largest gold mine, closed in 1950. We take a look at the river Tardes. A spectacular viewing point looks down on numerous buzzards flying in and out of the untouched woods.    Overlooking the River Tardes The virgin of the rocks: A walk from Evaux les Baines, descending along an easy route through beautiful woods to a gorge where sits the Virgin of the Rocks guarding the way. A horsy tale: a short distance from the house this walk incorporates the Bayard region where legend has it, the horse known as Bayard leapt 10 leagues and left his foot print in a piece of granite, now part of a cross. Cross at Bayard The gorge of the Voueize: A walk from the charming town of Chambon-sur Voueize, along a steep sided gorge with fast flowing water and beautiful woods and finally back to the stunning roof tops views of the town.
